40m was good with some static but 80m was downright weak and hard to copy. Made 22 qso's on 40m and 8 qso's on 80m. On both bands K4BAI had the strongest signal. A pleasure to work all and CU next month.--Jim Akre/wa9tze.........

In addition to working AA7QU, heard K5GQ, K4BAI and WA9TZE, though none were strong enough to work. --- Dave, KI6BHB

I tried to enter my score into the Tubby Spreadsheet, but it didn't seem to work. Sorry to be so stupid, but this month, I can't seem to figure it out. I made 36 total QSOs, 32 in the first hour. 20M was dead. 40M sounded good with pretty good activity. There was some QRN at the beginning and it continued to build. Skip was pretty long and I heard no stations closer than VA or LA. Only 3 QSOs on 80 despite many CQs. Thanks WA9TZE, N8RN, and N5KIP. Hope for better conditions and more activity next month. FT1000MP, 5W output, zepp and dipole on 40 and inverted vee on 80M. Please look for me from Jamaica May 21-26 as 6Y/K4BAI and in the CQ WPX CW Contest with three other ops in M/2 category as 6Y1V. 73/72, John, K4BAI.

Conditions were also difficult in Oregon. It was interesting to compare the reality with the MUF in the predictions. I would say that the actual useful maximum frequency was about 2 or 3 MHz lower than the prediction.

Conditions were rough this evening. Alot of QRN on 40 meters. I hope that in the coming months, the participation in this event will return to earlier levels as more operators become familiar with the wiki-based site.

Predicted Propagation for the Spartan Sprint on May 5, 2008

Conditions are predicted to be quiet. 20 meters will stay open a bit longer, thanks to the lengthening days of spring, but the solar flux remains low. Here is a summary of propagation conditions for May 5.
