KO6Z - K2 at 5W to end fed wire antenna. I was only able to operate a half-hour or so. Made 4 contacts in 4 states on 40 meters. Conditions seemed less than great at least for the West Coast. Glad the SP is still up and running. I always enjoy it. 72 Herb
de VA3SIE - Skunked! I had a quick listen on 40m at the start of the contest but I couldn't hear a single signal on the band.
AA9NF - TS-2000 throttled down to 5 watts. I got a late start and did not have time to hook up the K2. I used a 86 foot doublet at 45 feet and open wire feed to a Johnson matchbox. I was able to make 21 qso's and 13 states on 80 meters, and 16 qso's and 12 states on 40 meters. The copy was a bit rough as some of the signals were rather weak. I was also having problems with noise. Does anyone know how to submit our log files? I usually use the spartan sprint logger, but this time I used n1mm so if anyone knows how to upload the log files please let me know. 73, Pete, aa9nf
WD9F - Central Illinois. TT Corsair II at 5W & Inverted L (Tubby). Conditions poor at first then improved. Ony 4 Qs on 40 meters but 23 Qs on 80. Pretty decent for me. Great to hear so many familiar calls & good to know my gun still works after a couple of Nada Fox Hunts last month. A big thanks to Steve N0TU for patience. It took us several tries to get an exchange. Do we still submit logs, # of contacts or station weight anywhere?
KC0PET - Central Missouri. This is my first try at the Spartan Sprint. Powered the old Kenwood TS-140 down to 5 watts. Definitely "tubby" category. I only worked 6 stations in 4 states on 40 and 80 (WD9f above was one of them) - nothing stupendous. My antenna is a multi-band fan dipole in the backyard trees. Band condx were mediocre, but if I had had more time and skill, probably could have worked more stations. Hope to make the Spartan Sprint a routine. 73s, Rick.
