Dave Bilitch:Ran 5w on a Kenwood TS-520 and 40 meter inverted vee. Made 4 contacts: NG7Z, W7OM, W5ROK and K7TQ in WA, ID and TX all in the first hour. Also heard but could not work W4VHH, K4BAI, WA5RML and KI0II. 40 faded much of the second hour and had just started back near the end. Listened on 20 and 80 a couple times, but heard nothing. --- 73, Dave - KI6BHB
John Graf:I too long for the days when it was easier to submit Spartan Sprint results. This month I operated with my KX1 at 2 watts into a mag-mount hamstick on top of my rental car. The location was a hotel parking lot in Phoenix. So I am not complaining about my two contacts -- I am rather amazed that I made any contacts at all! Thanks to NG7Z and WA5RML for their good ears. I heard several others, including W7OM and W5ROK but just couldn't reach them. I had fun; though, and it sure beat watching the boob tube in the hotel room. I will be back with a full 5 watts and a decent antenna next month, and I hope to double my QSO count. :-) 73, John, WA6L
John Smithson:The 40 meter band was very tuff to operate but I managed to contact W5ROK in Richardson, Texas. I'm new to this, but I'm very happy to join my first "Sprint". I'll be looking to more of the same. I was surprised to work a contest station at almost one thousand miles from West Virginia. My only contact, but I'm very happy about it. 72's N8ZYA
