Mission of ARS

The mission of the Adventure Radio Society is:

• To support and encourage the integration of amateur radio and outdoor interests;

• To sponsor events that promote physical activity by using human-power, in its myriad forms, to reach unusual operating sites;

• To promote a sense of adventure by encouraging and celebrating radio operation from beautiful and remarkable places;

• To support the development of imaginative radio equipment and antennas;

• To enhance emergency communications in the back country, promote operational standardization, and heighten awareness of its intrinsic value;

• To promote an operating ethic based on simplicity, reverence for the environment and adherence to sound amateur practice;

• To create a sense of community among radio amateurs with similar interests and a desire to share their enthusiasm, challenges, knowledge and adventure with others;

• To support and encourage people of all ages - especially the young - to experience the combined exhilaration of amateur radio and the great outdoors;

• To offer support, cooperation and good will to other amateur radio organizations.
