Adventure Radio Society

Welcome to the Internet home of the Adventure Radio Society, a great group of men and women who combine amateur radio with their love of the outdoors - with a focus on operating from beautiful or remarkable places accessed through their own power.

The Adventure Radio Society - founded in May 1996 - sponsors popular events, such as its monthly Spartan Sprint, Top of the World and annual Flight of the Bumblebees.

We support the development of imaginative radio equipment and antennas suited for outdoor operation and publish this wiki, The ARS Sojourner.

The whole idea of this wiki is to encourage interaction among the members of ARS and to give everyone the oppportunity to write articles of all shapes and sizes. If you haven't used a wiki before, go to the top link "How Does a Wiki Work?" Also take a look at "The Handy Guide for Writing an Article" and "Logging Into The Wiki."

Please try to stay within the theme of the page and remember that comments about ideas are always welcome, but inappropriate comments about people are not.

Here are the three most recent entries in "What's New?" Great reading!

ARS Explores the AIM4170 Antenna Analyzer, Part 1, by Russ Carpenter, AA7QU

W3PBC on Mt Herman Colorado - n0tu

n0tu's Busted FYBO 2008 - becomes unbusted!

Have fun, both within the realm of The ARS Sojourner and in the great out-of-doors.

Dick N4HAY:Tough conditions! Most stations were extremely weak. I got the impression that they could hear me better than I could hear them. Need to look at my K2 sensitivity I guess. I operated on 40m only. Thanks to all for another great time!
mike dormann:advehture is everywhere, when you use tubes. my 1G6/1A5 regen works well on the broadcase band, now i got to get a 40 meter radio going. for a trasnmitter i plan to use a 6.3 volt filiment cathode tube but keep the battery tubes for receiving. i want to run some real power, like 5 watts, hard top get 5 watts out of a 3Q5............
Walter - K5EST:Sure hope the ARS big-wigs don't think this WiKi is progress! Was it that hard to keep a webmaster to have a nice club website,Sojourner, and membership numbers?....Walter - K5EST
